Modular wastewater treatment equipment for villages, municipalities, towns, apartment buildings, offices, cafés, restaurants and other industrial wastewater
In 2007 SIA “EkoStandarts Tehnoloģijas” started production of modular biological wastewater treatment equipment replacing hitherto widely used technological inserts, which were mounted in wells; currently technological inserts are used for small-scale treatment equipment.
The main benefit of modular treatment equipment is its functionality and a unique polypropylene housing, which is made of 1000x1000x80 PP (polypropylene) panels that facilitate both the manufacturing process and on-site assembly, as well as servicing of treatment equipment. Such solution is not new, since this manufacturing technology is used by the leading manufacturers of Western Europe and also in Russia. Practice showed that this modular solution, made of polypropylene panels, is more competitive in terms of cost and also more durable, since polypropylene, compared to all other materials, is virtually everlasting. This treatment equipment is supplied with long-lasting gear type air blowers produced in Czech Republic. Treated water significantly exceeds Cabinet Regulations No. 34 “Regulations regarding Discharge of Polluting Substances into Water”.

- Easier transportation, since standard dimensions do not exceed the permitted size for trucks;
- The housing of treatment equipment is designed so that it withstands pressure from soil and flowing sand, as well as freezing during winter;
- Easier treatment equipment assembly, lifted into an already prepared foundation ditch and then connected to utilities;
- Equipment can be bought and commissioned separately thus economizing customer funds.
- If there are several modules, when repairing or servicing treatment equipment, it is not necessary to bring the equipment to a complete stop – it may be done partially.
- In areas, where the customer is not fully informed of the amount of wastewater or the amount of wastewater is expected to increase, it is possible to buy an additional module.
- The module may be equipped with additional post-treatment modules if there is a need to completely remove nitrogen (N) or phosphorus (P) and reuse treated water.
- Installation of additional programmable PLCs (programmable logic controllers) in the automation of the renewed treatment equipment.
- Installation of SCADA system in the control panel of the treatment equipment, enabling treatment process visualisation directly in the treatment equipment;
- Installation of GSM modules in the automation of the treatment equipment allowing for continuous information reception regarding damage or error of the treatment equipment.
- Equipment of air blowers with a frequency converter;
- Autonomous excess sludge pumping system with sludge dewatering;
Technological inserts for treatment equipment – low-cost sanitation solutions
Technological inserts are designed to be mounted into newly constructed concrete curbs or for the transformation of existing cesspits or septic tanks into biological treatment equipment. This equipment may be installed under roadways and the wells may be dug in higher groundwaters. A technological insert is made of polypropylene that meets all the physical, chemical, environmental and health requirements. The initial efficiency type test for the treatment equipment (technological insert) was performed in accordance with Annex B of the European Standard 12566-3:2005+A1:2009. Thus the treated water complies with Cabinet Regulations No. 34 “Regulations regarding Discharge of Polluting Substances into Water”.

Main advantages of technological inserts:
- It is possible to install technological inserts individually, thus saving substantial amount of money.
- When building a house, initially only non-hydroinsulated reinforced concrete curbs may be installed, which can be used as cesspits, and buying the technological insert later.
- Reinforced concrete wells may be installed in places with road traffic, where it is impossible to install traditional biological treatment equipment.
- Any existing, non-operational treatment equipment, septic tank, cesspit may be renovated using a technological insert, provided that the reservoir is leak-proof and well-preserved.
