TA series grease, fat separators

The purpose of grease separators is to treat wastewater from grease and fat, or provide drainage pretreatment. Grease separators are installed in facilities where grease and fat concentration has already reached 10 mg/l. These are kitchens with high intensity cooking and dish-washing, starting from 10 customers a day, restaurants, hotels, guest houses, bakeries, small-scale food processing businesses, small-scale slaughterhouses with a drainage intensity of not more than 20 l/sec. Larger sites and with a higher grease concentration require industrial wastewater pretreatment technologies. It is strictly prohibited to discharge greasy waters mixed together with economic and faecal wastewater, these must be separated with a separate drainage main. Presence of grease in wastewater contributes to the clogging of drainage pipes, forming unpleasant odours and impairing the operation of pumping stations and treatment equipment.

SIA “EkoStandarts Tehnoloģijas”, in accordance with LVS EN 1825-1:2005 of January 2005: “Grease separators. Part I: Principles of design, performance and testing, marking and quality control”, has developed TA series grease separators.

Division, technological characteristics and working principle of TA series grease separators

TA series grease separators are divided into two parts - TA PC series full-body devices, made entirely of polyethylene or polypropylene, and TA B series grease separator technological inserts, designed for mounting into standard curbs. TA PC series grease separators are offered fully assembled, they are intended for installation above ground or on the floor, for example, in the basement, as well as for burying into the green zone. In turn, if there is a driveway, then the technological inserts are more suitable, which are mounted into curbs above which a cast iron lintel is installed. Functionally a grease separator consists of a tank or housing, separation wall, which is divided into two chambers: sedimentation chamber I and flotation chamber II. Grease leakage into the drainage system is not possible thanks to the separation wall. Polluted water flows into chamber I. Incoming flow is reduced by the separation wall. Chamber I is used as a sedimentation area for larger grease impurities. The chambers are divided by an overflow wall, where water flows under the separation wall. Grease remains on the surface and the suspended solids are deposited at the bottom of the tank. When the critical level of grease is reached, a full pumping and cleaning of the grease separator is required, as well as disposal of wastewater. The critical level of the grease catcher may be determined by the manager visually, growing the grease layer above the water level, or SIA “EkoStandarts Tehnoloģijas” may install a grease level sensor, which signals when the critical level of separated grease is reached.

The service team of SIA “EkoStandarts Tehnoloģijas” provides full maintenance and pumping of grease separators, as well as disposal of separated grease. In addition the Company offers special grease separating bacteria, which clear drainage pipes from grease clogging and unpleasant odours, but are not detrimental to the operation of the biological treatment equipment.
